Kristy, CMT
Kristy conducts 30-minute sessions of deep tissue massage that focus on areas of discomfort. She heads right to the source of your muscular pain and tightness by targeting trigger points and myofascial tension. In many years of battling her own chronic pain she has consulted various doctors, chiropractors, physical therapists, acupuncturists and massage therapists who have all contributed a piece to the healing puzzle. She will assess your needs and design a session as unique as you are. Her sessions promote healing of injuries, allow for increased range of motion and can be used to combat chronic pain. Kristy graduated from the National Massage Therapy Institute where she studied under Viktor Bocharnikov, developer of MATT (Mechanical Approach to Tissue Tension) and is nationally certified in massage and bodywork. Besides relieving discomfort, she believes massage is important for relaxation, lowering stress levels and maintaining good health (to hopefully prevent any discomfort in the first place). She says, as a therapist, she benefits from the rejuvenating effects of massage even as the "giver".

Marilyn has practiced acupuncture in Old Town Alexandria for thirteen years. She received her Masters of Acupuncture from the Traditional Acupuncture Institute – now known as TAI SOPHIA -- and was nationally certified in 1997 and is licensed by the Virginia Board of Medicine. Her initial training concentrated on five element acupuncture, which is a theory in the classics that likens our internal workings to the natural world around us. She has also extensively studied other theories of acupuncture since graduation, and is also certified in Japanese meridian therapy.
Marilyn has been very fortunate to have worked with people who are committed to their physical, emotional and spiritual health. Ideal clients are those who are dedicated to the full development of their journey through life.
Marilyn says, “My practice has been good to me. It grows by referrals, the majority of my clients having been referred to me from other clients or from physicians who know my work. . . I have enjoyed working with each and every one of them and have learned from their situations.”
She is also a certified Kundalini Yoga Teacher. Kundalini Yoga uses repetition of motion and postures to open the spine and to activate the glands of the endocrine system.
